LRF x UIW: Week-long Financial Education Program

5 Days. 14 Presentations. 40 One-on-one Meetings. Let's Do This.
This week Locker Room Finance (LRF) is providing financial education to all student-athlete teams at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas.
This week-long financial education program is called the LRF SPRINT. A program designed to meet athletes where they are and guide them in creating a customized plan for their money.
We achieve this through presenting to teams individually and in-person, rather than 400 athletes at the same time, or a zoom call for them to follow along with. We've found that this model works really well to allow athletes to engage in the presentation while they are comfortable with their teammates and leave feeling confident with their money.
During the presentations, athletes use the Locker Room Finance App to create a customized plan for their money. They can choose to connect their bank account to auto-track all income and expenses. At the end of the presentation, they have the option to sign up for a one-on-one financial coaching session with Conner, Owner and Head Financial Coach of LRF.
We even have athletes who sign up for financial coaching sessions before they have even seen the presentation. Proving that student-athletes are hungry for financial education when offered in a way that resonates with them and works with their schedule.
We're grateful for the UIW student-athlete development staff, JR Pulido, Elyssa Barrientos, and Isaiah Zavala, for putting this impactful week together for their athletes! It is no small task to coordinate with every coach, team, practice schedule, and class schedule to create a presentation schedule that works for all athletes. We wouldn't be able to provide such a great program for the athletes without their support!
