Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 19, 2026
At Locker Room Finance (“we”, “us”, “our”), we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about users (“you”) of our app. By using Locker Room Finance, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
- Account Information: We use phone number verification to create and secure your account. Some early accounts created before phone verification was introduced may still be linked to an email address.
- School Affiliation: Your athletic department access code, school name, and graduation date, used to verify and manage your eligibility to use the app.
- Financial Information: We use Plaid to connect to your bank account and retrieve account and transaction data. Transaction histories and budget summaries are stored securely in our Firebase database.
- Usage & Preference Data: We store your last sign-in timestamp and any transaction or vendor names you choose to customize.
- Notifications: If you enable notifications, we store a device push token to deliver alerts like weekly spending recaps.
- Diagnostic Data: We collect crash and error reports to help us find and fix bugs. These reports do not include your financial account numbers or bank credentials.
2. How We Use Your Data
- Access Management: We use your school affiliation and graduation date to verify and maintain your eligibility to use the app.
- Budgeting: We use your transaction and budget data to power the app's core budgeting features and to evaluate how well the app is helping you manage your finances.
- Personalization: We use your customization preferences (like renamed vendors) to tailor your experience.
- Notifications: We use your device push token to deliver features you've enabled, like weekly recaps.
- Security & Stability: Diagnostic and usage data help us secure the app, fix bugs, and keep it running reliably.
3. How We Handle Financial Data
We use Plaid to securely connect to your bank account and retrieve account and transaction data. We never see or store your bank login credentials — Plaid handles that connection directly.
Your Plaid access tokens are encrypted at rest using Google Cloud KMS before being stored. Transaction histories and budget summaries are stored securely in Firebase Firestore.
We do not request, receive, or store your full account or routing numbers. Locker Room Finance asks Plaid only for transactions and balances. Moving money requires permissions we have never requested, and the app has no ability to do it.
When you connect an account, your bank may show its own consent screen listing everything it can share with Plaid — which can include account and routing numbers. That list describes the bank’s data-sharing arrangement with Plaid, not what Locker Room Finance asks for or receives. We do not control the wording of those screens. If anything there is unclear, contact us at conner@lockerroomfinance.com.
4. Third-Party Services
We use Plaid to connect to financial institutions, Firebase (a Google Cloud service) for authentication, data storage, cloud functions, notifications, and crash reporting, and Anthropic to power the automatic transaction categorization described in Section 5. These services are secure and widely trusted.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers or marketing partners.
We do not use your data for marketing or targeted advertising.
To suggest a budget category for a transaction, we send a limited description of that transaction to Anthropic, the provider of the Claude AI model. What we send is limited to the merchant name, the transaction amount, and, if you type one, the word you use to describe the purchase. We do not send your name, email address, phone number, account numbers, account balances, or anything else that identifies you. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, information sent through their API is not used to train their models.
6. Data Security
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Sensitive financial credentials are handled directly by Plaid and never touch our servers. We use industry-standard cloud infrastructure (Firebase / Google Cloud) to store and protect your data.
7. Your Rights & Account Deletion
You can request access to or correction of your data at any time by contacting us at conner@lockerroomfinance.com.
You can permanently delete your account from within the app, under Settings. Deleting your account disconnects your linked bank account at Plaid and permanently removes your transactions, budgets, and account data from our systems. This action cannot be undone. You can also request deletion by emailing us at the address above.
8. Children’s Privacy
Locker Room Finance is intended for college student-athletes and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Legal Obligations
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here and, where appropriate, communicated to you within the app.
11. Contact Us
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or your data, please contact us at conner@lockerroomfinance.com.
